Gentilini Winery
Founded in 1982, Gentilini is a family-owned winery on the island of Kefalonia.
The Gentilini family are descendants of nobles who once held political power on the island. Their ancestors, originally
engineers in the Italian army, were sent to Kefalonia for work, later settling there and rising to political prominence.
Two generations ago, Spiros Cosmetatos planted Kefalonia’s traditional white grape varieties, studying viticulture and
winemaking methods best suited to the island’s unique climate and soils. Today, the estate cultivates 7.5 hectares of
privately owned vineyards and manages an additional 15 hectares under contract, all farmed organically without
herbicides or pesticides (certified by DIO).
The vineyards, situated close to the sea on shallow chalky soils above limestone bedrock, provide an ideal terroir for
producing high-quality wines.
The winery is now run by Spiros’ granddaughter Marianna and her husband Petros, who continue the family’s legacy.
