Tasting Comment
2019 / Ruby with slight garnet hues. Aromas of red fruits such as cranberry, raspberry, and strawberry, along with black
fruits like blackberry and black plum. Characteristic notes of tomato paste and dried herbs typical of the variety. A
complex bouquet combining clove, smoke, olives, forest floor, dried meat, caramel, and coffee. On the palate, high acidity and pronounced, astringent tannins—hallmarks of Xinomavro—lead to a long finish with a distinct umami character.

Foundi Estate
Located in northern Greece, near the border with North Macedonia, Naoussa is one of the country’s most renowned wine regions.
Foundi Estate, a family-run winery established in 1992 and based in Nea Strantza, Naoussa, produces wines by employing the traditional local practice of aging, which helps to soften the naturally high acidity and firm tannins of the Xinomavro variety. This allows them to craft high-quality wines that reflect the grape’s character and individuality, with excellent
potential for long-term aging.
Their red wines are known for their firm acidity and well-rounded tannins, often compared to fine Burgundy or a
maturing Barbaresco. The estate also produces a Blanc de Noirs from Xinomavro, where the vibrant acidity blends
harmoniously with notes of new oak, resulting in a distinctive and characterful wine. At Foundi, deep knowledge of the
Xinomavro grape ensures that wines are carefully cellared after bottling, and only released once they are ready to drink.
